The new 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor engine 6.2-liter V8 is ready for the big time, Ford decided to drop the dated 5.4-liter engine altogether, making the 6.2-liter V8 standard for both the Supercab and SuperCrew models. This newly standard engine makes the F-150 SVT Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup on the market. Ford says the 6.2-liter V8 improves the capability of the Raptor by giving customers new levels of capability by enabling low-speed maneuvers such as rock crawling, driving up a grade or accelerating through deep sand, which will now require much less throttle input because of the engine's increased torque.

2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor engineers were nearly obsessive about giving the longer, heavier SuperCrew the same driving feel as the original Raptor, and a day of testing on snow- and ice-coated roads and at a test track in far-northern Michigan proved they were successful. Spring and shock absorber rates were recalibrated, as were bushings and other lesser elements. The SuperCrew even uses a faster steering gear to offset the slower response of the longer chassis. Even in "professional driver, closed-course" situations (i.e., hooning about like a pack of juveniles on an icy test track in far-northern Michigan), the truck's 6200-pound curb weight never overwhelms its abilities. You can limit the range of gears the trans will choose in auto mode, blocking out sixth and fifth, say, or skipping second. With the electronics now in hand, it would be easy for Ford or SVT to use it with paddle shifters on other models or future Raptors.

2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Interior And Navigation Control |
Specific to 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, this screen allows customers to access information about various features such as AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control), Hill Descent Control, off-road mode, electronic locking differential and the 4x4 system to help them make informed decisions on what technologies might be of use in a given situation. Off-road screen allows customers to see the side slope and grade angle of the vehicle during off-road maneuvers. Trailer tow customers can:
– Name and change a trailer, in order to track mileage and store gain settings via the trailer brake controller on the instrument panel
– Delete trailers
– Access information on specific features such as trailer brake controller and tow/haul mode
– Choose a type of trailer connected and go through a connection checklist.
Information: Navigate and view warnings
The system check screen displays information such as oil life, engine hours, engine idle hours and open doors. Warnings, such as “left rear door ajar,” can be displayed graphically. All-new messages and warnings include trailer sway control, Hill Descent Control and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Show how many keys are programmed for MyKey (if equipped)
