2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty New Transmission. Managing the power flow is the all-new 6R140 heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission enables segment-exclusive Live Drive Power Take Off (PTO) for the Power Stroke, allowing customers to power auxiliary equipment.
The transmission features SelectShift Automatic™ functionality, which includes both Progressive Range Select and manual function. Progressive Range Select allows customers to reduce the range of available gears while in Drive. For full manual function, customers can pull the shift lever into “M” and select the gear desired. The control system locks the torque converter and holds the gear.
The 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty contains a wealth of new technologies – from all-new powertrains to software designed to take full advantage of the truck’s continuing best-in-class towing and payload capability so customers can get the job done efficiently. Ford research shows that 97 percent of Super Duty customers tow, underscoring the importance of the new Super Duty’s best-in-class towing capability.

The 2011 Super Duty also offers more towing from inside the bed. New is the first-ever factory-installed and warranted fifth-wheel and gooseneck substructure directly attached to the frame. The electrical connection is mounted in the side of the bed wall, providing a clean installation.
The New Concept 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty Trailer Sway Control.
Ford’s lauded trailer sway control (TSC) system joins the Super Duty lineup, giving those customers segment-first capability. TSC is integrated with AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control™), which now is standard on all single-rear-wheel (SRW) configurations. The AdvanceTrac control module uses additional software to monitor the truck’s motion when a trailer is attached. Trailer sway control can determine from the yaw motion of the truck if the trailer is swaying and take measures such as applying precise braking or reducing engine torque – to help reduce the trailer sway.
For further peace of mind, the available integrated trailer brake controller, factory-installed and covered by a Ford limited warranty, offers smoother and safer operation due to its ability to interface with multiple vehicle systems. Normal braking is proportional to driver brake pressure for smooth brake stops at all speeds. If the vehicle’s Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is engaged, the special trailer brake kicks in to minimize the potential for trailer wheel lockup. In Super Duty trucks with trailer brake control towing trailers with electric brakes, the Ford system can, during a sway event, also apply brakes to the trailer to help stabilize it.

The 2011 Ford Super Duty uses several technologies to make the ultimate work truck even more productive. Using technologies of Ford’s AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control), the driver can control the speed of hill descent without applying the brakes, even in reverse. The speed is set for the truck to descend a hill by pushing a button, allowing the driver to concentrate on driving rather than modulating the brakes on a steep decline. First used on the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor.

2011 Ford Super Duty the 6.2-liter 16-valve V8 replaces the 5.4-liter. It's rated 385 hp at 5500 rpm and 405 lb-ft at 4500 rpm of torque. It's mated to Ford's new Torqshift six-speed automatic transmission. Even with the higher displacement, Ford said it managed to improve fuel economy by 15 percent. The optional diesel engine is the big story at Ford. Divorced from Navistar as its diesel supplier, Ford developed its own new Powerstroke engine. The diesel is rated at 390 hp at 2800 rpm and 735 lb-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm. Ford Super Duty conventional towing for the flex-fuel spark-ignition SD maxes out at 15,000 pounds of trailer weight. The Powerstroke diesel maxes out at 16,000 for the F-450 4x4 Crew Cab. That's for hitch-mounted trailers. Use a fifth-wheel trailer that connects to the bed above the rear axle and the Powerstroke tops out at 24,400 pounds. Maximum payload rating for the flex-fuel SD is 4600 pounds, and the max for the Powerstroke diesel is 6520.

The New Generation 2011 Ford Super Duty Hill Start Assist. Prevents a vehicle from rolling back on a grade by maintaining brake pressure until the engine delivers enough torque to move the vehicle up the hill, providing improved driver confidence, comfort and safety. Works the same way if the vehicle is nose down on an incline. As the driver transitions to the accelerator pedal, the brake pressure is relieved in a controlled manner.
2011 Ford Super Duty Electronic Locking Differential. Electronic locking differential provides additional off-road capability, allowing Ford Super Duty to retain optimal traction and maintain its momentum. Switch-controlled, the system offers the driver control over the differential locking system, which means not having to slow to a crawl or stop the truck to engage. Using a true mechanical connection to lock the left and right axle shafts together so that both turn at the same speed, the feature maximizes traction capability at the wheel. The feature also will stay locked during forward and reverse maneuvers, ensuring sure-footed behavior during the most severe off-road maneuvers.

The new 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor engine 6.2-liter V8 is ready for the big time, Ford decided to drop the dated 5.4-liter engine altogether, making the 6.2-liter V8 standard for both the Supercab and SuperCrew models. This newly standard engine makes the F-150 SVT Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup on the market. Ford says the 6.2-liter V8 improves the capability of the Raptor by giving customers new levels of capability by enabling low-speed maneuvers such as rock crawling, driving up a grade or accelerating through deep sand, which will now require much less throttle input because of the engine's increased torque.

| 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor |
2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor engineers were nearly obsessive about giving the longer, heavier SuperCrew the same driving feel as the original Raptor, and a day of testing on snow- and ice-coated roads and at a test track in far-northern Michigan proved they were successful. Spring and shock absorber rates were recalibrated, as were bushings and other lesser elements. The SuperCrew even uses a faster steering gear to offset the slower response of the longer chassis. Even in "professional driver, closed-course" situations (i.e., hooning about like a pack of juveniles on an icy test track in far-northern Michigan), the truck's 6200-pound curb weight never overwhelms its abilities. You can limit the range of gears the trans will choose in auto mode, blocking out sixth and fifth, say, or skipping second. With the electronics now in hand, it would be easy for Ford or SVT to use it with paddle shifters on other models or future Raptors.

New 2011 Ford Edge best-in-class 305 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque come courtesy of its all-new 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine. A sport-tuned suspension helps it deliver the engaging steering and spirited handling you crave in the corners, while maintaining a comfortable ride overall. Outside, aggressive front and rear fascias combine with a bold Tuxedo Black Metallic grille, jaw-dropping 22-in. aluminum wheels, oval-shaped chrome exhaust tips and more to give Edge Sport a look that backs it all up.
Available adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support are smart new radar-based
technologies no other vehicle in the class offers. Adaptive cruise control uses forward radar to monitor traffic and can adjust your cruising speed to maintain a preset “headway” distance to the vehicle in front of you. Collision warning with brake support is designed to alert you if its sensors detect a potential collision with the car in front of you by flashing a warning across the windshield and sounding an alarm. Since early warning is key to helping prevent an accident, the alert can provide 1.5 to 2.5 seconds for you to hit the brakes. If you don’t react in time, it pre-charges the brakes and increases brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake.
The 2011 Ford Edge available new BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert uses
sophisticated radar-based technology to detect vehicles in the surrounding lanes while you’re driving. If BLIS detects a vehicle in your blind-spot zones, a warning light appears in the appropriate sideview mirror. Cross-traffic alert uses similar technology to watch for traffic behind you while you’re slowly backing up. When it detects vehicles up to 15 yards away (about 5 parking spaces), it sends an audible warning, a message center alert, and a visual display in the corresponding mirror. New technology to help prevent a bad day.

The Ford Fiesta followed tradition, with an end-on four-speed manual transmission mounted to a new version of the Ford Kent OHV engine, dubbed "Valencia" after the brand new Spanish factory in Almussafes, Valencia, developed especially to produce the new car. Ford's plants in Dagenham, England, and Saarlouis and Cologne (from 1979) in Germany, also manufactured Fiestas. To cut costs and speed up the research and development, many modified Kent engines destined for the Fiesta were tested in Fiat 127s - at the time considered the benchmark car in the class, with which the Fiesta shares styling similarities. This also allowed covert road testing across Europe. The Ford Fiesta was originally developed under the project name "Bobcat" and approved for development by Henry Ford 2 in September 1972. Development targets indicated a production cost US$100 less than the current Ford Escort. The car was to have a wheelbase longer than that of the Fiat 127, but with overall length shorter than that of Ford's Escort.

The new 2011 Ford Fiesta powered by a Duratec 1.6-liter inline four with a variable valve system called Ti-VCT, the Fiesta has 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque to shove its 2600-pound mass around. Accordingly, we estimate a zero-to-60 mph acceleration time in the 9-second vicinity, with a quarter-mile time around 17 seconds at almost 80 mph. Fuel economy figures have not been finalized, but Ford expects the Fiesta to achieve about 30 mpg in the city and 40 on the highway. While the standard transmission is a 5-speed manual with a reasonably slick and positive action, there is an optional dual-clutch automatic 5-speed that puts the Fiesta in pretty exotic company.

For 2011, Ford Escape Hybrid is expected to continue its claim as America’s most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly SUV, based on EPA estimates of 34 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Ford Escape Hybrid models use a 2.5-liter I-4 designed to run on the Atkinson combustion cycle. An advanced engine processor enables nearly imperceptible transitions between gas and electric vehicle mode, and the Hybrid also features a powertrain damping system to reduce vibrations and feedback to the driver and other occupants.

2011 Ford Escape Hybrids, while known for their fuel efficiency and advancements in green technology, have the equally unflattering reputation of being less fun to drive and underpowered when compared to their gas driven counterparts. The Escape Hybrid ignores this precedent and lays these concerns to rest with superior drivability and ample power, coming jointly from a 153-horsepower, 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 136 pounds-feet of torque, and a 94-horsepower, 330-volt permanent magnet motor. They combine for a total power output of 247-horsepower, getting the Escape Hybrid from 0-60 mph in less than 10 seconds placing it firmly within the normal acceleration numbers for its segment.
2011 Ford Escape Hybrid continues its theme of sustainability with available eco-friendly seats. The seats are made from 100 percent post-industrial recycled materials. Eco-friendly seats created with soy-based foam that substitutes for petroleum-based products also are available on the Escape.
