The new BMW Concept I8 electric engine technology blend together with the propeller 1.5-liter turbodiesel. BMW’s new hybrid super car enters the pitch-black stage. Rear engined and initially available only as a hybrid, the I8 is the most efficient BMW sports car ever conceived.
turbodiesel three-cylinder engine producing 163 hp, combined with a plug-in hybrid-electric system of two electric motors, for a total of 356 hp. Together, the hybrid-drive kit could get the Vision Efficient Dynamics concept from 0-62 in 4.8 seconds, with a 155 mph top speed, according to BMW. The company also said it would also get 62 mpg, not a bad feat, though no M version is expected.
The Engine for the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics comes from a 163-hp 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and two electric-motors. That allows for a total of 356-hp and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft. 0-62 mph come in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Fuel-economy is estimated at 63 mpg while in EV mode, the concept can provide 31 miles of zero-emissions driving.
